I'm pretty sure you don't have 160+ nitrite or you wouldn't have any fis alive.....
If it's nitrate, how has it got that high? Also plants use ammonia, nitrite ans nitrate.

Do lots of water changes, just because you have plants doesn't mean you don't have to do water changes. Seriously do lots of water changes, this will bring down the nitrate, then your nitrite should drop a bit. Your nitrate should be at 10-20, I wouldn't let it get past 50 if I was you mate, because nitrate is high doses can kill fish. So please, do a 50% water change, leave it for about an hour and then test it again and tell us the results, then we can guide you the right way.

Probably not, and even if it did it would be better than your fish all dying. If your so worried then do 20% water changes.

Your nitrate should have gone down, do a 20% water change again and it should work, or it could be that your test kit has gone haywire?
