i tested my water today and my nitrates are at 40ppm, i decided to check my tap water and its 20ppm and ph is 7.6, its this ok?

i only filled the tank 3 days ago as i already had a cycled tank so just moved the filter media over, i am unable to change the water as i used all the tap safe filling the tank!

40ppm is near the top end of what you want it to be, but it'll be fine for a few days until you can get some dechlorinator.

is there something i can add to the tank to lower the nitrate? cuz my tap water is already at 20ppm, so im gunna have to change the water every few days if it gettings to 40 so quick!

40 is fine, it's considered that it can reach in its high hundreds with no detrimental effect to fish so i wouldn't even give it a second thought at such a low level tbh.

oki doki, gunna water change tomorrow anyway as im going away for a few days and want to keep on top of it
