got 2 dwarf puffa fish in my community tank with 4 blue rams 2 red belly cichlids 2 mollies 1 siamese fighter and 2 panda cat fish.....my problem lies with the puffas and the siamese fighter as the puffas are always going for the fighters fins and as a result they are getting a little short to say the least?? shall i have the puffas re-homed or put into a diff tank????

Although the mollies are certainly good brackish water fish, dwarf puffers and all the others listed here certainly aren't! Perhaps a moderator will move this to the Oddballs section.

Regardless, dwarf pufferfish (or puffers, not puffas) are notorious fin-nippers and will eventually destroy the betta's finnage. Once they've done that, they'll move onto nipping the Corydoras, and then anything else they can catch. So yes, the dwarf puffers need their own aquarium.

Cheers, Neale

the tank they are currently in is not brackish as many people have told me they are not brackish fish but stil none the less something needs to be done. i have got another tank set up aswell but it has got 7 mollies in it.....will they be ok in there until they can be re-homed??? hopefully they will be as they have not got any problems with the 2 mollies in the tank they are currently in??

have a look in the "oddballs institute" forum for a thread at the top of the page called "dwarf puffers". It will answer these questions, but in all honesty, it's best not to mix these fish with anything with long fins. Or if you can help it, anything else really.
