My male Betta is being nipped at night. If you look in my signature under the 33L tank, his tankmates are listed.

He's also hiding during the day, like he's scared :-(

Any idea which tankmates may be doing this? :dunno:

Why not put him in his own little tank? A 2.5 gallon should do. Poor little guy.

Is your 180L tank not a bit overstocked?.....could be lots of fish you have in there. I had a beta pecked to death by two Golden Gourami, but all of the larger gourami can be mean as hell, especially to fish of there own families i.e. Betas and other Gourami. I have also had problems with Loach being aggressive in the past. As you said it is happening at night, I would suspect one of the nocturnal species, and Loach do fall into this category. Try finding a red light bulb (quite a dim one, 25W or so), and put it in a lamp neer the tank. With any luck, it will not wake up the fish which are diurnal and you will be able to observe the nocturnal ones at your leisure.

Could very possibly be the female betta's. Or maybe the rainbow's?

Just a thought.

Oh sorry, I didnt read your post properly :*) , its the Beta in the 33L tank which is being peacked.....my bad. But still, try the thing with the red light. You might cath your culprit red handed. Good Luck.
