Hey, I'm *trying* to plant my ram tank with only south american plants, but it's hard, lol. I'm this --- close to getting java moss, lol. I really want a nice ground cover for my aquarium that's from south america, and preferably not hard to find. I don't have great lighting, or a co2 system, but I have flourite substrate and supliment with seachem iron and seachem plant tabs. Currently I have amazon swords that are doing quite well, a red melon sword, cabombas, and moneywort. I also have fake plants cause they're good filler ;) They'll be moving to another tank when I'm done planting this one, though.

Also I am planning on making a 10 or 15 gal that will be flourite substrate, co2 system, non-region specific, etc, etc. I really can't wait to start. It'll be a q-t tank, or a beta tank. I'm not sure which yet. I really should have a q-t tank, but my bettas need more space. Anyways, regardless of what I put in this tank, I want a couple nice snails who don't reproduce constantly. I'd like them to be relitively good looking, and eat all my algae without eating my plants. Suggestions?

Thanks!

>>> I don't have great lighting,

That's a problem. The best "lawn" plant from South America is in my opinion Lilaeopsis brasiliensis, but this really needs good light to thrive. Echinodorus tenellus is easier to grow, but again, wants decent light to generate a real lawn, it is also, strictly speaking, North American although found also in Central America, and introduced locally in South America.

Hmmm...can you suggest any nice bulbs that aren't too expensive? I'm having to set up another tank right now because of a really bad fight, and am a little low on cash. Willing to spend a little extra for some nice lighting, though. (th tank is 30 inches long, btw)
Thanks!
