so, the fancy platy's didn't work out, so the male was moved ( he ended up killing all the females I put with him, in that 10 gallon ), so on to the next small live bearer, that won't eat all the cherries...
I currently have a fancy guppy strain ( Gold / Japan blue sword tails ), Santa Maria endlers, and newest, tiger teddies... so I'm thinking a goodied or limia... I'm 3-4 generations in on the cherries in this tank, and there is lots of cover, so as long as the fish sharing the tank, won't eat anything bigger than the baby shrimp???

you have heard the saying if it fits in a fish's mouth it's more likely to get eaten however make sure there are plenty of hiding places for your baby shrimps ,A few years ago when I had so many shrimps breeding I started to spread the adult shrimps around the room mainly in my goodeid tanks Thinking they would be eating so That wasn't the case They end up breeding everywhere.

so I'm thinking a goodied or limia...
Actually, most limia species have the potential to grow up large. If they reach adulthood fast, most of these limia species have a small or moderate size. But if they grow up at a normal pace, they can grow up larger.
Quintana atrizona?
Yes, this species remains small. I've got hem as well. And I do have them combined with shrimp which they leave completely alone.

That's a bit of a general rule. For not all fish species will eat smaller fish or shrimp from my experience. But of course, if a fish or shrimp is small, it could "fit" in a bigger fish's mouth. But the question will remain: Will it also eat it...?

LOL there's only one way to find out

one would think adult platies could eat little shrimp, but ty cherries have flourished, with that male, since the start...
