Is catching them not an option.
Half the fun for me when I kept local fish was catching them.
I was younger and probably knew it was not legal but did it anyways. As a child I always lived near a pond where we would hunt cray fish and minnows along with seasonal polliwogs.
The little lake I got the pickerel, sunfish and newts from was overrun by the newts. They were everywhere.
I drove by that lake today on my sunny day ride and thought about it.
I tied my canoe around my waste and waded the shoreline net in hand with a cooler in tow for my catch.
The pickerel were the easiest as they sunned much like sunnies in pit and shot straight out when startled.
I caught two~!
