Hi ive just set up a 50 gallon sump with two 300 watt heaters a 2000 lph pump but my worry is the container i have used for the sump i couldnt afford a glass one so i purchased a plastic attic water tank and now im worried that the plastic may contain toxins that could harm my stock can anyone help?

If the plastic is designed to hold water that people will drink then it is probably food grade and so safe for your tank.

well i dont know what grade of plastic it is but the general use of the tank i purchased was originaly designed to be a header tank sited in the attic to feed a the hot water cylinder, ive read that people are using plastic trash cans for sumps and what ever they can get there hands on so am i worrying about nothing... thanks for your help....

I think it will be fine. I have a friend who has 4 massive water storage type tanks similar to this and they are used as sumps.

thanks very much for your thoughts and advise we will see how things go...
