Here's a picture of my 6.6 US Gallon 24" X 12" X 8" aquarium. Currently housing a betta and 2 long fin leopard danios. All together (not including fish), this setup was under $100.00 - It resides in my office/recording studio.
That's right actually. 24 x 12 x 8 would almost be 10 US gallons. Whereas 24 x 8 x 8 would be 6.6 US gallon (I have one of these). Though your tank actually looks the same as mine (which is the 6.6).
Wow - Here I was thinking it looked "okay". Nothing special, but what a response. Thank you so much. I guess I have to leave it be for now
All of the questions finally prompted me to measure it for myself. I was relying on my memory of what the box said. Turns out it's actually 23 3/4" long X 9" high X 7" deep. It's a bow front, so the middle of the tank is actually 8" deep while the ends are 7". Apologies for the mixup - I think it really is a 6.6 US gallon tank and I'm sure it's the same setup others have mentioned (Petco sells them under the name Aquatic Gardens).
I had to dig deep in the rock bin to find rocks small enough to have the scale look correct. Plants are all fake, but the wood is real (yes, I'll keep an eye on the PH - I know about wood and it's tendency to lower PH).
So far, it's turning out to be an active, healthy aquarium - Heck, the betta has even started patrolling the entire tank and has stopped flaring every 5 seconds. He seems to enjoy swimming through the plants and even goes poking around in the little cave at the back now and then.
