Newby Needs Help

Hi , really GREEN new mariner here! I have got equipement to set up a marine tank (tank size 40''X12''X15'') and have had live rock in for over a week, the water is nice and clear, no test has been done to date , however after reading info from books/web I have added the following 2 solutions TETRA AQUASAFE & TETRA NITRATEMINUS. After doing this the Protein Skimmer has gone CRAZY and is frothing up a lot. Up until adding the 2 solutions the skimmer was working as expected producing very low froth and was quiet.
Any help/suggestions appreciated as only getting minimal help from the supplier now I have bought the tank etc!!!

You'll want to post this over in the marine section as "New to the Hobby" is mostly just tropical freshwater.
