One of my platy's gave birth to 16 small surviving fry (20 all together) and they are weak barely swimming around. Will some of them survive? My other platy gave birth to 6 large healthy fry.

If they have absorbed their egg sacs and are in top quality water, you should be able to save most of them. If the water is less than pristine, it can be a real toss up.

I have the newborns in a breeding trap in the community tank which I did a partial water change about 4 days ago.

They are due for another change and a trap clean. Have a look at the bottom of that trap. Isn't it just full of rotting food in the corners? If not, you are not feeding enough.

I haven't fed the newborns that much but I feed the 4 day olds a lot and they eat the first bites when it is sitting on the bottom. I just changed the water about half an hour ago and everything is normal.

A quick way to do a water change on a trap is to simply lift it part way out of the water and then set it back in place. That moves the trap water into the main part of the tank and replaces it with the cleaner water in the main part of the tank. All fry require frequent feeding, especially if they are struggling to survive.

After the water change the newborn fry are doing much better and all of them are starting to swim around along with eating some fish food. :D
