Hey guys

Right well I've decided to set up a tropical fish tank due to the expected arrival of my little girl.

I built the tank myself (working with glass as my job) I made it 700x450x450 so approx 141 litres.

I purchased all the products advised Ie filter lights heater etc

I filled it with water yesterday morning adding tetra aqua safe and safe start.

I then left it to all filter through.

Here's the problem

I woke up this morning to find the water has gone all cloudy.

Is this normal practise or should I be worried?

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers josh

Hi Josh, :hi: to the forum.

What you're experiencing in your tank is called a bacterial bloom. It's basically opportunistic bacterial spores in the air coming across a pristine environment and going mad in there.

It will go in a few days, or with some large water changes.

As you're new to the hobby, can I just give you a nudge in the direction of our 'beginner's resource centre ? The link is in my sig, and you'll find some great articles to help you start out in the right way :good:

The threads on 'cycling' (that means getting your filter to grow the good bacteria you need) will be especially important for you.
