Hi my name is robin 23 from the uk, ive got a Juwel Trigon 190lt corner tropical fish tank, now ready for fish so i am looking at different kinds of fish to put in there, at the moment my mate is giving me a plet hes about 10inch long and 3 wide(i think) , and misses wants a severum and discus what other kind of fish would be compatible?(she wants colorful fish) and would they be all ok together? and do you buy severums and discus in pairs?

cheers :)

First, have you cycled your tank? If so how? Also, what is is your proposed stocking list (or wish list)

I can already tell you that 190lt is too small for severums, and they are not compatible with Discus. Discus require much stricter water parameters and higher temperatures that severums. Severums can get 9-12 inches long and are a very chunky fish.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
I have a corner tank the same size as yours with sevs in and they are nearing the out grown the tank stage, so prob not a good idea going for them.

Discus should be kept in sholes of at least 5 or 6, and although your tank is an ok volume for them, they really need something a bit longer to swim about in, although I have saw them kept successfully in a tank this size.

What about getting some different sholes of fish? Congo tetras, rainbow fish? Something like that?

Look forward to see the beast :)

thanks mate i post a pic up soon. yeah i am looking into diffrent sholes of fish misses what colourful fish and i dont know what ones are compatable

aquatic centers frequently over stock tanks as there is limited room in an aquatic center. A good aquatic center would also have explained cycling. I fully advise you to check the beginners resources part of this forum and read on fishless and fish-in cycling.

I'm sorry that the aquatics center has such a large fish in a small tank. But i can tell you as an owner of severums that its not fair to the fish.

robin hello and welcome you do need to cycle your tank or when u add fish they will all just die. if you go to main page click on your new fish tank then 4th post dwn begenniers resource centre then click on fishless FISHLESS cycling all the info is on there mate. you need pure ammonia
