A female betta or two would be fine in a community tank with live bearers right? I don't care if they'd eat fry, I'm just worried they would bug my live bearers
Also, I've noticed people on here referring to PK and VT Betta's... can someone explain that to me? lol I don't understand...

Females may be ok but you'd need atleast 5, i did have some platies in with my females until i saw them ganging up and battering them :/

PK, VT, HM, CT etc are all to do with the tail spread :good:

PK ~ Plakat, or Short Finned :good:

for example the little chap in my avi is HMPK meaning a Halfmoon Plakat, or short finned halfmoon :)

There are many do's and don't's when it comes to mixing tropical fish as certain species just won't get along with other certain species. But it really boils down to the individual personalities of the fish involved. Sometimes they will get along and some of the same fish mixed together might not get along.

It is best to mix them early in a day when you can constantly monitor the tank for signs of aggression. If these signs appear you should seperate the fish before they hurt each other. But trial and error is really the best way to know for certain if your community fish will get along.

I've had White Clouds that got along with bettas and White Clouds that were in constant fights with Bettas. White Clouds are top feeders like bettas and it is not good to mix other top feeders with Bettas as they are both trying to own the top of the tank so I should have known better. But that demonstrates how it really depends on the individual personalities of the fish. Of coarse, the tank size matter allot too. The smaller the tank, the more likely you have invasion of territory resulting in aggression.
