Newbie New Tank On The Way!

Hi All,
Have a new 5'x2'x2' with lights on the way. I have ready and waiting 2 fx5 canister filters 2 x 300w heaters 75 kgs on black gravel. 3 sandstone rocks, some slate tiles, a long flower pot with holes at the bottom and sides.
im hoping after the cycle to get an oscar a plec and dithers maybe some silver dollars or rainbow fish. Can any of you nice peeps give me some more ideas as i want to get this right just to save some strange looks from the other half in nothing else!!!

Silver dollars are a bit big to use as dithers. They would need a tank that size just to grow up in themselves.

Rainbows require a little more work than most other fish, They command at least 50% of their water changed every week, and alot of vegatables in their diet with occaisional frozen/live foods being fed.

Might have to watch it with an oscar in a tank. Usually rainbows aren't sold as adults.
