A good sheet of polystyrene is recommended to go below the tank anyway so the empty tank could sit on that on the uneven floor without any problems.
As for at home drilling, you don't ask you don't get :dunno: :D
 
Hurrah!!

Found a guy who will drill the tank for me at home once it's in. He's going to charge me £75, as he's coming from lmerseyside and reckons that he will need to use two drill bits if I need more than one hole, as the glass is so thick.

Am currently drawing up my tank designs on Sketchup. I'll post them later to see if anyone can see any issues?

Also, I've been to see the tank today to get exact measurements. I noticed that the tank glass is a laminate.

It looks like it is a sandwich of 5mmglass, bonded to 1mm polycarbinate, bonded to 5mm glass. It could be acrylic rather than polycarinate.

Will this make a difference?

Sounds like a well built tank to me, don't see any problems with that as long as it's been done properly.
Can't wait to see the Sketchup drawings
