I recently acquired 3 goldfish my friend won at a fair (much to my duress), i put them in an old childhood tank of mine and they seem to be doing ok.

My tank is 80x40x30cm but i dont really want a bigger tank. I was planning on putting them in a pond so if anyone has any advise on digging and setting up a pond for goldfish i would be most grateful.

I am looking to keep tropical fish when these guys are outside so any absolute beginner advise would also be fab!

Hi Sarah,

Sounds like you've got the right idea -- Your 25 US gallon would be just about right for one goldfish, but the normal recommendations would be another 10 gallons or so for each of the additional goldfish. But if you can successfully create the pond in the next few months you'd be ok I'd think.

You've come to the right place. As others will mention, get a start reading our Beginners Resource Center and keep up your questions here and reading other's threads. I'm sure there will turn out to be people here with some pond experience.
