I just got a 29 gallon kit from all glass aquarium. I am unsure what to put in it. It will be fresh water.

Can I get some ideas?

I definitely want to get 3 angelfish, the kind with the TALL fins.

I will most likely make it look like a saltwater tank with artificial corals and reefs, therefore I want fish to fit in with the look.

I will use fine white gravel, with very very few peices of black mixed in. What plants will look good in it. I do want live plants.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I suggest buying a pair of Convicts, they are rather interesting.

but I'm not certain they'd like being with angels, I think they're pretty hard to look for. Small tetras go well with Angels. Neons are the stereotype, but there's are looooads of species to choose from.

Full grown angel will have tetras for dinner!

If you want angels with small fish (2 inches or less), buy the angels young so they grow up with them. If you buy them adult-sized, they're destined to make a snack out of them.

If you want a saltwater look, get some colorful fish. I'd write more but I have to eat dinner XD!

I'd be careful getting fake coral since it can be SHARP cutting your fish's fins. May I suggest two angels instead of three and make them a pair and have a corner of the tank with something wide and flat and long for them to spawn on. Then maybe some cardinals though let them get full grown before introducing the angels and you'l have a chance as for them not to being eaten then either bristlenose pleco or some cories. Not sure on you sw idea though.

My local pet stores have this rubbery kind of fake coral. Is not very soft but can bend a bit, but not with currents and light brushing against. It is not like a rock, and can most likely bounce. Just to kind of give you an idea of what im talking about.

Would tha be safe? I have seen it in use with many freshwater fish at the shops.

IMO the tank you have is NOT suitable for angel fish. They grow quite large quite quickly and would be stunted in your tank. The "rule of thumb" for angels is 30 gal for the first and 10 gal each thereafter. So ostensibly you could have one, very lonely angel. They like the company of their own.

stats means water stats, like ph, hardness, nitrite, nitrate and ammonia. After we know this we can tell you fish that best fit your tank!

I dont have the tank set up yet, but when I do, Ill will post the stats. I really would like to get 2 angelfish.

then you really need to get a bigger tank.

you need at least 40g and the tank must be at least 18" tall to house a pair of angels.

sorry
get a tank to suit the fish you want, or the fish to suit the tank you have
dont try and mix and match :)
a full grown angel could be 8" or more fin to fin high they dont generally like being at the bottom, and they dont want to be so high in the water their fins will poke out, so a 12" tall tank doesnt give them much room to move.
if you did go with angels just remember, if it fits in their mouth it will... if it doesnt they will often try anyway...
there are many other beautiful fish you coud keep though, try looking into some dwarf cichlids, rams, apistos etc - very beautiful and colourful and small which would suit your tank much better

The fish store I went to yesterday, Beitals, had these tiny angel fish. They were about 4 inches tall only. Do they grow big? I believe the writing on the tank said dwarf angelfish or something.

Im not going to have a large amount of fish. I only want about 8 or 9. If you have any ideas for other fish that look like they belong in saltwater, thats cool. I certainly dont want the fish to have a bad life.

I was talking to a man outside the store bought a really cool silver fish. it looked like it was upside down. It had a very short dorsal fin and a long bottom fin. It also had som black on it. It was called something with an "m," but i dont remember the name.
