right so how does this work with a air powered sponge filter or can i not do it

Not as good but you would ask someone who cleaning out there filter to save the dirty water that they wash there sponges and noodles in. Bacteria does not live in the water but you will get bits of mulm and poo and wool etc which will be fine to start a shrimp tank

So if i dont do this how do I get the levels build up with a sponge filter
