I am a newbie here with some questions. I had asked a few people from my LFS, and also on another forum, but I am still confused.. I guess they either didn't explain well enough or didn't answer my questions? Anyway here goes;
I have had guppies for about 3 weeks now, and so far have done 2-3 water changes (though I was told afterwards that when using Tetra Safe Start I shouldn't have, but the fish will be okay). I had spoke to a "show/professional" guppy breeder about what to do, and he suggested using Prime + Stability for my 10g guppy tank to cycle it because of the water change and my guppies being stressed because I shouldn't have. I did what he said, adding both and not feeding the guppies for 3 days then slowly feeding small amounts of food. I did a water change on 10/9, waited 24 hours and tested the water. I am unsure on if the ammonia is at an okay level or what to do. Here are the results:
Water Test 10/8/14 day before water change:
Ammonia - 0.25
pH - 7.2
KH - 180
GH - 150
NO2 - 0
NO3 - 0
Water Test 10/10/14 day after water change:
Ammonia - 0.25
pH - 7.2-7.8
KH - 180
GH - 150
NO2 - 0
NO3 - 0
Water Test 10/12/14
Ammonia - 0.25
pH - 7.2
KH - 120-180
GH - 150
NO2 - .5 to 1.0
NO3 - 0
I also have 2 plants, Cabomba and http/www.fishlore.com/fishforum/aquarium-plant-profiles/115112-hornwort-care-sheet.html as well as a sponge filter and heater. Do these levels mean my tank is cycling? Are the parameters listed above at an okay range?
