Newbie And Keen!

Hello!

I'm a self confessed fish lover of all kinds. I went on a diving holiday recently and now have my heart set on a mbu puffer, however I am keen to get the set up exactly right. I've kept fish before, but nothing in the same league.

I've talked at length to my local aquatic centre and was told by the owner that I only needed a week to let the tank 'settle' before I introduced my puffer - very exicting as I thought that I could have my puffer settled in a weeks time.

However, further research has shown me that this is probably not the case. Therefore I would be very grateful to join the forum and speak to experienced people in order to wade through some of the conflicting information that you hear.

lovely choice of fish the mbu puffer, i really want one, unfortunately i don't have a tank the size of a swimming pool

just in case you don't know, they get to around 2 feet long!! so your gonna need a tank at least 8'x3'x3'

your best bet is to do a fishless ccyle on the tank first, there's a pinned topic in the newbies section that can give you more information.

from then your best to post in the oddballs section, there's a lot of puffer keepers who hang out there who can help you with specific advice
