Right im just gathering information before i start my own tropical fish tank.

Im going to get a tank 140x30x40 Cm (LHW) about 33 Gal (UK).I want a large amount of java moss as i love the look of it.
Below is the look im after

I know this is a show tank but you get the idea.

How hard would this look be to obtain, would this amount of planting require CO2, as i really really dont want to have a CO2 set up.

that tank is using glossostigma in the foreground and dwarf hairgrass in the backround for the carpet. it requires a high amount of light to grow well, at least 90 watts of full spectrum light in a 33g (which in turn would require CO2 addition). I'm not sure if you could obtain the same look with java moss but it would be interesting to see how it would turn out.

Kool, thanks for the advice people, a bit more reading up on the planting side and im ready to go :D

BTW the hood thats coming with my tank will be completly enclosed (sliding glass) is this okay or should i leave the tank partly open to help ventilation ?
