i was wondering, are smaller new worlds ok with cory catfish?
as in new worlds such as keyhole, bolivian rams, blue acara and rainbow.
and if not are there any new worlds ok with them?
thanks
james

Dwarf Cichlids are OK with cories (Rams, Apisto, Kribs , Rainbow Cichlids, Keyhole Cichlid (not dwarf cichliids I know)Dwarf Flag Acara)

aw, great! just ran through my head thinking that i know some cichlids live around the bottom lower levels of the tank so would hope not to have any agression seeing as corys are smaller
thanks
james

iv also heard of kribs taking the eyes out of corys!! dont like kribs though but thought that others may have the same type of risk

What size is the tank? What the stocking?
Ive kept dwarf cichlids with a few types of corys from pygmy corys to pepper corys and never had a problem. Even my fully grown apistogramma agassizii left pygmy corys alone.

Ive kept corydoras with rams, kribs (who are old world), acaras, severums, firemouths, ellioti, aureus, keyholes, geophagus and likely more besides, never had a single problem, obviously something along the lines of an Oscar would be a problem, although only on the fact that they could be eaten, aggression wise cichlids tend to leave the corydoras alone, they see them as no threat and generally speaking too large (except pygmys) to be food. There are always exceptions to this of course, dependent on the aggressiveness of the cichlid in question!

juwel 180 vision, so 180l. :D
iv got a bn pleco, 4 angels and getting 6-8 corys tomorrow. possibly sterbai or julli.
i love the look of blue acara, but iv been told they can be agressive. may get a juvi and if he dont work out move him on and go with a few juvi rainbow chiclids or keyholes. if not then dwarf rams are on the cards with bolvian prefered, if i can find any!!!
thanks

Of that list, Id say either keyholes or bolivan rams with about 6 corydoras to finish the stocking you already have :good:

I think rainbow or keyhole cichlids would be the best option.
In a 180L you could have
4 angels fish (once to pair sell the other 2)
10 cardinal tetra or a similar sized fish but they have to be bigger than a neon or they will be angel food
1 BN
8 corys
2 rainbow or keyhole cichlids

i like the rainbow cichlids. aww, gunu have to wait till i get myself a bigger new world cichlid tank for the blue acara then!! :p
i think iv decided,
4 angels (if 2 pair sell other two)
1 BN
6-8 Cory
2 rainbow if cant get hold of any then keyhole
8-10 dither fish, undecided yet. Like rummy noses, or maybe even dwarf rainbow. see whats around.

thanks
james
