I finally thought up something that amuses my betta (he is a rather tough guy to entertain!)... he is watching his new "tv"... in other words, I pulled out my digital photo frame and filled it with pictures of bettas and tropical fish.  He has spent a good deal of time watching it from behind things.  LOL

Very cute! :p There is someone else on here who rescued a gourami and plays videos for it.

That's a great idea, fish TV :D.

I have switched it around from time to time to play for my other tank and my two honey gourami can't pull themselves away.  LOL

I'd have never thought of this myself. I remember watching a documentary in the early 2000's that said dogs and cats can't actually see tv's properly beause of the frames per second the tv played. It was something like 60, while dogs and cat's see 90 or so frames a second, so the tv was too slow for them.
Modern TV's play more frames a second so dog's and cat's can actually see what;s on a flat screen just as well as they can see normal. (I didn't know this until I looked it up.)

But for some reason in my mind, I figured that if the most common house hold pets couldn't see tv properly then fish couldn't either. I mean they also live in water which is another added difficulty. (But I guess that would affect sound more than sight).

I just love bettas :) I've started dangling the tips of my fingers in the water and the girls go crazy! Unlike the other fish they come right up to me without hesitating. They jump and swim through my fingers (their fins are surprisingly soft.) They nip a ton! And it's surprisingly strong for a thing their size. I put a pipe cleaner hoop in the tank and they love it. They swim through it all of the time.

Bettas are like the dogs of fish, smart and playful! :)
