I recently aquired a 5-year-old 35g hex at a yard sale for $25. It came with all the accessories (filter, lights, hood, stand, heater, rocks, etc.);however, I am at a loss of what to put in it. Right now I'm liking the idea of a pink kissing gourami species tank, but I am open to suggestions and this seems to be the perfect place to find them. This one will be going in my bedroom rather than our "fish room" (only has 1 established tank and 2 empty 80 gallon tanks). So, throw me some ideas!

Kissing ouramis grow a decent size( http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=34958 ) and since hex's have less surface area I wouldn't reccomend it. But if you're dedicated to a gourami tank, try :
Honey gouramis, max size 2in: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=34959
Paradise gourami: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=69734
Pearl gourami: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=72152
Or the popular and bright Dwarfs: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=35308

Then add a school of 5-6 cories, maybe 3 ottos aswell for your clean up crew and you're good to go!

chocolate gouramis!
you could have a nice planted tank with the chocs and a nice shoul of tetras of ure choice and a small sholl of masked corys
or mabe a pair of rams(or just a male) and some tetras
or some killifish i love the aphyosemion australe-lyretail

p.s thanks for ure info on shin/guill fluke the other day

I made a big mistake originaly when posting about hex's

I was looking at a strech hex, which is like, say, a rectangle with triangles on the end.

So like, not equa sides, so it's much better for most fish.

"stech hex" It's called.

But for yours, you could go cold water and get a gold fish

You could do a pair of angels i believe

You could go with tetra's (10x Black neon, 10x Glowlight, 10x Cardinal, and 10x Rummy nose is what i'd do in your situation if you could keep up with water changes, and do some Khuli loaches for the bottom, like 4-8, as they don't do much to the bioload, or maybe some corries.)

Hex's are kinda limited.

Or.... A single betta XD

oh yeah. So basically.

Bottom dwellers.

Corries. Snails + Shrimp combo. or Khuli Loaches. take a pick.

With a bunch of shrimp and snails O_O
