G'day All,

I am new to this part of the forum, I have just come back from my LFS with

2 x 3 spotted Gouramis
2 x Red Dwarf Gouramis
2 x Golden Gouramis,

They are in a 150 litre 3 foot long tank with

2 x F bristlenose
2 x Clown Loaches
7 x Cardinal Tetras

My question is this all the other fish in my tank get a mixed diet of Cucumber, Zucchini, Frozen Blood Worms and Flakes, And a thing call tropical Fish Crumble that I get from my LFS whcih I believe to be vegetable based as I feed it to my Lake Malawi Cichlids aswell. My question is this, can I keep feeding my fish blood worms now that I have the Gouramis in my tank?

Cheers in advance

Are they dwarves or honey gourami?
Check the ID link in my sig...

 !!! you're Australian....
You need to be really careful and extra vigilant about monitoring those dwarves for any signs of illness!
See the DGIV link (also in my sig) for further info on what your looking for.

Bloodworm is fine, but don't over do it, it is commonly related to dropsy in many fish when overused (more than once/twice a week), anabantoids are regularly heard of in relation to this (IME).

You do know that the 3 spots and gold (if labelled correctly) are simply a different colour morph of the same species of fish?
What gender ratios have you got?

Hi Germ,

Thanks for the reply so quickly, I playing dumb here what is colour morph???

I will now start keeping a look out for DGIV thanks for the head up on that.

I not sure what the male to female ratio is and not really that sure how to tell. Maybe I should have done a little more research. Most place that I read up at said that tank size was ok and that they were great community fish.

Cheers Again

Andrew

a colour morph is a natural or man made colour variation of an animal
for instance a blue budgie is a colour morph (in this case man-made) of the natural green budgie

In addition to the spot on advice above, you will need to keep an eye on your clown loaches. They will rapidly become too big for your tank.

They can be quite sensitive and are best kept in groups of approx 5. The downside to this is that they grow to about 1foot long and live for about 20 years. They have amazing characters and many people think they are absolutely amazing to watch.

The difficulty is how to house fish that grow so large... Now is a good time to think of your long term plan.

You can get some basic info on them here
