Hello all,

My wife had fish when we met some fancy tail guppies. I have been keeping and breeding reptiles for about 12 years. we dont know much about fish except that we love animals with personality and colors!

Our over all goal in the hobby is to have a salt water tank with coral plants and a few very colorful fish!

We are looking to start with fresh water and work our way up. We are literally learning this hobby from the ground up starting with this post and lots of reading. So far we seen someone selling african cichlids aparently they were christmas fulu. they are so colorful and beautiful its unreal and how they breed is very interesting to us.

if there is anyone here that would like to pm us tips or advice or things we should know about obsticals we may come across please feel free. help is always welcome!

thanks

Hey Tenchu, welcome to the fourm! You've definitely come to the right place to learn! :good: If you click the link in my signature it'll take you over to the beginners resource center, where you'll be able to find any information you could possible need about how to set up a tank :good: With choosing your stock, have a look around the various sections of the forum and see what you like :) Just be sure to do your research first (as it sounds as though you already are!), and you'll be fine :D

Thanks I appreciate the help. Yes with any animal I purchase i research it to death i am kind of a stickler for creating its natural habitate the best I can. A lot of my friends are big fish people but i perfer to learn on my own since my friends are mainly into large aggressive fresh water fish and none keep salt water tanks. I look forward to the research and making new friends in the hobby. My wife is also looking to read up on the plants we can keep she is a major plant lover which is why we had so much fun keeping dart frogs together.

The most important thing for you to read up on is cycling a tank; that way your fish are safe from poisoning themselves with their own wastes.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new hobby! There's always someone around here who'll be happy to help you with any questions you might have :)
