hi.
i have a dozen red cherry shrimp and i was wondering if they could live off fish flakes and algae wafers healthily? I also heard that hikari crab cuisine is good for their outer shell (b/c it is rich in calcium) and need those kinds of foods to properly grow. Is this true? I am still looking for this 'crab cuisine' but whilst looking came across 'crayfish' pellets and 'hermit crab' pellets. Will this perform the same task in improving the shrimps outer shell? And what other foods do you feed your shrimp for optimum health?
Thanks in advanced for replies.

I've read good things about JBL NovoPrawn - which is a decent priced food designed specifically for shrimp.

When I order some cherry shrimp, I'm going to give either "Biomax Special Formula # 3" or "CRS Red Colour Enhancer Food" a try.

Right now my amano, red nose and bamboo shrimp just get fish flakes, this mix of pellets and tinned spinach (which they seem to LOVE).

At least if you feed them a variety, they don't need special food at all, they probably don't ever need special crustacean food, but will show their best colours and moult safer if you do give them these special foods.

I've never really bothered feeding mine unless there's more than 200 of them. Then they get hikari algae wafers and the hermit crab pellets. Normally they just live off of the algae and clean up after the fish.

I feed mine Hikari Crab Cuisine which they love, I am considering getting them some of the CRS food from aqua essentials (or ebay as its cheaper :p ) but i've got a bag and a half of crab cuisine to get through first
