ok i got a ten gallon tank ...just startin out ok i dechlorinated the water used tap water let it sit and let my filter run and heater climatize my tank ok now i went and bought three sunburst wag platys two femal and on male i belive, also i got two painted swords again one male on female ..now i floated em in the tank just as it said on the little paper the guy at the LFS gave me they were all active swimmin around as usual checkin the tank out ...i bought them early in the morning before they had a chance to feed so he told me feed em a lil bit until its gone then give a lil more do this like three times ...now after i finshed feedin them they all kinda just got lazy two of my sunbursts are just chillin by my air stone (around that vicinity) and my other one is up by my filter tube just chillin and my swords are stickin together but kinda seems like all my fish are tryin to hide or just being lazy i tested my ph same as what the guy told meabout 7.0 to 8.0 is fine and my ammonia is 0 to .5 ppm soo i dont think theres anything wrong with my water ???just wonderin what was up are they just hidin because theres not enough cover or places to hide ... i got three large plants and two strips of smaller plants plus a structure ....well i just hope theres not wrong with em

(and i got done feeding around noon or so and its already 230 still just chillin around the bottom of the tank )

Any ammonia above 0 is harmful so if you think it was over 0 do a 25% water change. Also did you cycle this tank?

ok uhm actually i really didnt i used a water treatment called aquasafe and for a 25 % water change i should fill a pitcher use the water treatment stuff and let it sit for 24hrs to declorinate?? and when i did the test the water in the test was slighty yellow if any its it looks more clear then anything

Hi blu,

It's the weekend so there may be some blank periods before many members help you, but they will eventually. In the meantime please read as many of the pinned articles at the top of the "New to the Hobby" forum as you can. Start with the "Beginners Resource Center" and especially read about nitrogen cycle and fishless cycling.

You are in a very typical situation,
