Ok, so I have an Aquaone 850 (155ltr) stocked with harlaquin, neon t, couple of platy, corydoras, S flyfoxes (18 fish in all) Have just got me a male and female neon dwarf gourami. Hope to get more later. On advice from shop better to buy in pairs of mixed sex rather than just the more colourful males (my prefered option) Seems to contradict what I am reading here so...... What say you....the real experts (you are not selling me anything!) :thanks:

Hi, you will find the male will chase the female almost all the time resulting it the female hiding alot..most people tend to get another female just to take the pressure off. Or see it the lfs will take one back. :/

Thanx for reply. So are you saying that an all male situation is better if I wish to increase numbers or do people just buy one male and a couple of females. Taking one back is not my way of doing things as it sort of smacks of defeat! I did ask about the harrasment thing at the shop (having seen how platy act) and was told that they pair off and all is peaceful. Hopefully when or if others reply too then I may see a pattern forming

Yeh, they do unfortunately harass the poor females alot, my bf has seperated his into 2 tanks...result, 1 happy female no longer hiding in fact in the past month, the female has sat in the bushes the whole time and now swim at the front of the tank.., the male is a bit sulky though

Im sure people will have diff tales but im just going off my personal experience..hope this helps :)

one male to 2 females
Is this to say that I can have another male as long as I get him 2 females.. ie 2males+4females? Hey, I'm coming back as a Gourami :hyper:

Yes, you can get more as long as it won't overcrowd your tank.
