hi im new to discus and ive made lots of mistakes already... so far i have 2 discus and they are both happy or so from wat i can tell they are happy. I have a wet dry filter so wen i put food in it pushes it around too fast so i turn it off.. today before i went to school i turned it off but stupidly forgot to turn it back on. Does this mean that all the bacteria on the media is dead? and if so does that mean that its like starting a new tank again and so its going to have an ammonia and nitrate spike again?

thanx lisa

I would advise you to get a Test Kit and see what the readings are. Then you know for sure if you need to cycle, add ammonia and what not.

i have a test kit and its alright now but will it go off at hurt the discus if the bacteria has died?

thanx lisa

the only thing you can do is alot of water changers and keep an eye on your stats as you dont want anomia and nitrite to go to high as discus dont like it.by the way you do know that discus should be kept in a group of 5,as the two youve got wont stay happy for long the stronger one out of the 2 will bully the other one till it dies and the one that is left on its own will eventually die as it will be lonely and wont eat thought id better tell you that.but you do really want to sort your water out soon.

yeah i know im adding more soon im waiting for the one i recently got to settle in and also im waiting for the store to get in more discus.

thanx
