I am just in the process of restocking my rio 240 tank (I think that is what it is)

I currently have:-

1 violet plec
1 red tailed shark
2 coolie loaches (black not striped ones)
6 neons

and have just added 6 endlers. I have never had endlers only standard guppies. It looks like I have one female and 5 males. Do I need to increase the females? So far she only appears to being bothered by one nice blue male but dont want the others to join. Anything else that I need to know that is different to guppies?

You have to increase the number of females drastically otherwise the poor female will be s*****d to death.
Ideally you need minimum two preferably three females per male.
I have 4 or 5 females to every male and the females get a chance to rest and recover ( sort of )
Although initially it is a more drab tank as the females are plain, the resultant offspring more than make up for it.

With a red tailed black shark you may not have many surviving babies though

I much prefer endlers to guppies and they still have the vigour that has been bred out of factory farmed guppies.

Steve :)

not that bothered about babies to be honest - been there and done that! Just changed from having large fish in the tank i.e. oscars, severum etc to back to schools of fish. Much more interesting to look at and watch.

Out of interest, would they nip the fins of a male siamese fighter as I have heard that guppies do although I never found it when I last had the combination years ago
