New To Cichlids

Just changed one of my community tanks to cichlid tank.

cant remember which cichlids it is that when they have had there fry they swim with them for ages and keep safe in there mouth???

Well, that gives us the species, but not the tank size.


All the cichlids but the neolamprologus brichardi are New World cichlids and are substrate spawners. N.brichardi are also substrate spawners, but are from Africa and need completely different water conditions. The New Worlds prefer softer neutral water, while the brichardi needs hard alkaline water, also they will most likely bully all of your other fish, I'd suggest rehoming the brichardi.

Have to say that you are spot on the Brichardi are getting bad, bullying alot of the other fish. so this saturday there out of there. sorry to do it as there lovely fish



just phoned lfs taking them back in the morning, can you suggest best fish to replace them ?

Well the rest of your cichlids are New World, so something along those lines. Try posting in the New World section, they should be able to help you out.
