New Tank

The bog wood is great. I have two big lumps of it in my tank and I had to
suffer for about six months with the water going a browney colour all the time.

I've had mine in the tank a year and a half now and it looks great.

Nice tank you have there mate.

Jon :)

Thanks for all the comments guys!

There are no fish in it yet, the tank is only a few days old! Its going to be for my plecs and catfish though, and I thought I might get a couple of firemouth cichlids aswell.

That look really good. I too hate the price of Bogwood. The big piece I got for my new tank was supposed to cost £50, but the guy in the LFS put it through the till wrong so I got it for £30!!! Crazy prices though!!!! :D

I wish bogwood was less expensive. :(

The little piece in my tank cost $9.00 (4.50 per pound x 2 pounds). I want a big piece, but at something like 15 or 20 pounds????

I forgot to add that it is a really cool tank. :)

Lovely tank. what fish are you going to put in there? :)
We were admiring a large piece of bogwood in our local LFS and the owner told us that the guy who supplies them with bogwood just asks some gypsy guys down in devon/cornwall to go and dig up the bogwood on the moors and pays them crap money for doing it!! My boyfriend just said for the same price we could drive down there and dig it up ourselves !!

Nah, I was originally looking at a bigger tank, butthis one is not "too" heavy, so it will be fine in my room :)

Thanks again guys.

You will be sure to see more pictures very soon as soon as I amhappy with the water and have got it clear enough......DAMN THESE BOGWOOD TANNINS!!!

Ben

Thats a beautiful tankand a great peice of wood in there.

I paid £25 for my chunk of bogwood.

Although on monday I got even a box of bogwood, some guy came into the shop i work in and gave it to us my work mate didn't want any so i have a nice supply of driftwood and mopani!!

I don't have a problem with tannin, i have carbon in my filters.

We have inspired some ideas for my next set up!!

what are the dimensions for that tank by the way?

looks great . What kinds of fish [ will you be getting , didn't see any in there ] ?

Charcoal should work

Gorgeous tank, Ben.  TOTM nom from me.

I boil my driftwood & bogwood for 30-45 minutes, and then bake it in the oven for another 40 minutes. It makes the kitchen smell nice, and it removes the tannins. ;) Those pieces would probably be too big to bake, let alone to boil, though. :look:
