Have brought a tropical fish tank set up, approx 28ltr tank. Set the tank up as advised, added the 'aqua cycle' and 'aqua pure' as advised. The tank has been in place for 6 weeks! Finally told the water was ready. Added 3 neon tetras. Dead within 24hrs!!! What on earth do I do now in order to get this tank up and running, belongs to my daughter and dont really want to go through fish deaths again. Is the best option to start again? If so any advice? Can I get the tank up and running any quicker?

:hi: Hi, it sounds like your tank isnt properly cycled. try reading up on fishless cycling HERE
Also neon tetras should only be added to a mature tank (6 months +)
good starter fish are danios and corys.
Hope this helps

Hi and welcome to the forum

Time and patience are the best advice with fish and believe it or not neons are not the best starter fish

Read the advice on cycling and go from there, ask as many questions as you want and we;ll help you get your tank sorted :good:

Hi, thanks for the advice. Was wondering, is the best thing to do now, empty the tank, clean everything and start again?

Hi, sorry, trying to get the hang of this computer stuff as well as fish!!! Not sure if my last mssage when on or not, trying to find out if I should empty the tank and start again? If I do is it right that I clean the filter sponge with the tank water? Any ideas as to why it is taking so long to get the water ready and yet the fish are still dying?

hi, your tank isn't properly cycled read the link on my first post. you don't need to empty the tank but a water change wouldn't hurt.

I doubt there are any danios and corys (even Pygmy Corys) that will fit into a 28L tank.
What about some WCMMs?
