I upgraded my tank on Friday to a 325Litre Effectline, went fairly well although it took 5 hours. The things I like is it`s a lot wider than my last tank and looks a lot better aswell as having more space. The lighting is improved with built in reflectors so I only now use the front(separate controls for front and back) and it creates a shadowy area at the back that the fish swim in and out of which creates a nice effect that the fish I`m sure like .
I`ve since added an in-line heater (Hydor) si i`ll be removing the internal one soon.
Filtration is the same 1 x Fluval 305 (1000lph) 1 x Tetratec EX1200 (1200lph) . + Vecton v2.

Looks good Nick - very nice tank. :good:

Great looking tank nick, I'm sure the fish enjoy the bit of extra space! What have you got planned for the 75gallon that they where in before?

Hi Tanks, good to hear from you.
I think I`m going to put a pair of Peacocks thats I`ve got, they are a WC pair of Aulonocara Maylandi "Eccles Reef" it was a impulse buy but they were so nice.

Very nice choice, I've still got those three peacocks I got a couple of months. Its taking them ages to get to adult colouration and I'd say they still have a good 5-6 months to go.

When you say Aulonocara Maylandi "Eccles Reef" do you mean these guys from the profiles of cichlid forum link. I think these are a different species so if you have a link to what they look like I make sure to post it. What age roughly are the fish that you bought! Nothing like an impulse buy!

Those are the same ones , the pictures don`t do them justice (I will take some this week). Not sure what age they are small adults (3.5-4") showing full colour.

Looking forward to seeing the pics! Just out of pure curiosity, any chance that you could let us know how much you paid for the 325Litre Effectline and stand. Do you recommend them as a tank in comparison to the juwel aquariums?

Stand was from my old tank, I used a painted bit of MDF to make up the gap.
I paid this much for the tank http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=176405&hl=
One sold on EBAY last week for around £100.00 with a stand (a bargain)

I think the Juwels are damn good aquariums for the money, they look a little dated IMO compared to the Effectline, it`s finished really well in aluminium I think it looks far more modern the only down side is access through the lid is limited (the juwel it`s brilliant) but it`s easy enough to take the whole unit off, it just sits on top.
So in all better looking but not as Practical.
Definitely get one again.

I agree with you nick. I really like the finish on the tank and the aluminium really frames the tank (very similar to picture frame). Also how easy is it to add externals to the tank, I take it all the hole are pre drilled in the lid? Also what are the lights in the hood, is it just a twin 30w bar?

With all these quality tanks nick it would be a shame not to add some of them to the "members tank thread" at the top of the page. Hint hint nudge nudge!!! Plus we need someone with Shellie's to add a post! Hope I'm not pressuring you :shifty: :shifty: :shifty:

I`ve added the tank at the top. :good:
The filter pipes etc go over the top of the tank and the lid has cutouts either side, these need to be made larger but with it being aluminium shoudln`t be difficult.
Twin 40w ( I think 40W) 48" T8 with built in reflectors the good thing is control over front and back , I just leave the front on which leaves a showdy area at the back which creates a nice effect and a darker place for the fish to feel more comfortable in.
Shellies are waiting to go in a new tank , will do when I get it sorted.
