I have finally decided what i'd like to keep in my new tank?I am a sort of beginner i keep a betta at the moment with 2 aquatic dwarf frogs so just wanted to know if ive got this right?

I am hoping to put in a some platies, some guppies, some black widow tetras and some neons? Does that sound ok?

Also I am going to keep the betta in his own tank but would i be able to transfer the dwarf frogs over to the bigger tank? :hyper:

Thanks all :good:

Sorry I meant to post this in the beginners section and can't figure out how to move it now. soz

Hi, your selection sounds ok and is similar to how I started (see sig.) Platy are a good starter fish but I wont be replacing mine as I feel they are greedy little so in so's. I would maybe add some catfish and Harliquines. Don't forget the rule of thumb...1" of fish to a gallon of water. You didn't mention size of new tank. Glad to hear you are keeping the betta in his own tank, sorry don't know about frogs at all. :good:

Tanks is 80l. I was thinking about adding a couple of zerba loachs as people have said these would be ok for my size of tank and are good community fish, would this be ok?

I've never actually kept dwarf frogs, but I have heard that their eyesight is very poor, so I'm wondering if they would be able to compete for food with greedy platies and with zebra loaches.
Also a word of caution about your black widows- they are known fin-nippers, so wouldn't keep them with male guppies. Temptation might just be too much for them.

Is there anyother kind of tetra that would be better?

I'm not very familiar with tetras, but I use to have von rio tetras and they always seemed to be very mild tempered. Another bonus, very colorful fish. I think lemon tetras are suppose to be fairly well behaved. I imagine if you have a nice sized school of them, they would keep to themselves for the most part.

What size tank are the frogs in now? If it's big enough, you might just want to keep them there. They are pretty meek and mild, and sometimes it can be hard to get enough food to them if you have finned little piggies in the tank with them. :)
