Im about to purchase a 125 gallon tank, just for a stingray.

Did some research and apparently they can be held in a 45 gallon, just needs to be wide, so i gave him a 125 gallon.

Well, i plan on just putting in sand at the moment, so i was wondering if any of you know abit or two about stingrays, and what fish they can be with, and how there enviornemnt can look, all i know now is just sand, but thats kinda dull no?

Ive searched and searched, couldnt find what kind of enviornment they like best, like plants and sand wise etc.

Remember, freshwater rays, not sure what kind though but its the smallest type.

Getting my ghost shrimp prepped to be eaten aswell.

Thanks.

From the little I've read about stingrays, sand should be kept to a maximum of half an inch to an inch; some people don't use any at all.

Whoever told you a stingray can be kept in a 45 is totally wrong I am afraid, 125 US gallons is too small in my experience too
I have a 300 us gall tank and I will have to upgrade mine soon to keep my rays for life

A smooth sand is best, we use kiddies play sand and it doesnt matter about depth as the rays will landscape it every day searching for scraps of food so it never gets the chance to go anoxic.

Please please do some more research as your ray will not be happy in your current ideas for tanks.

I have to agree that 125 gallons is no where near enough, i have my rays in a 200 US gallon tank and to be honest thats far too small, in the near future they will be being moved to a 400 US gallon tank which should be much more suitable though i eventually plan for a pond of around 2000 gallons for them.
