i was planning on getting a new fishtank, something on the order of 300l. i wanted to keep a bunch of discuses. what fish are good with discuses? clown loaches, cardinal tetras...

is it possible to keep a long nose elephant fish with discuses?

No I don't reccomend elephant nose with other fish that will out compete them, especially loaches and catfish. They will often strave if kept with those fish.

I wouldn't keep Clown Loaches with Discus, they move pretty quick and would disturb the Discus at the night. Cardinal Tetras would be fine, as would some any Corydoras that could handle the higher temps. Your Rams could go in the tank also.

If your sig is correct your 35l tank is not suitable for some of the fish in it, I will assume you know that already by reading posts on here. Also you should keep your Loaches, Tetras and Danios in groups. I would sort out this tank before even considering Discus, you will also need to research into Discus and the water requirements they will require if you are to be successful. You'll need to decide if you want to dedicate the cost/time into them.

kev: i am aware of the problems with my tank. most of the fish came in pairs, and one died leaving the other behind. also, the people at my lfs mislead me - it was much later that i realised that some of the fish they had given me, were completely unsuitable for my tank. unfortunately there is not much i can do right now. if it is any consolation, most of my fish seem happy :D !

would the elephant fish be in direct competition with discuses? i could always place worms on the tank substrate...

Well you could rehome them, take them back to the LFS or put them in this new tank your getting?

I keep clown loaches with discus. they are fine with my fish

What sizes are these fish grayboy1? How long have they been together? What size tank?

the clown loach is about 5-6 inches. the discus are about 3-4 inches. there are 9 discus in total. the tank is a 6'x2'x2', been kept together about 2 months now
