Ive got a nano marine so have minimal experience, but what do I need for this tank?
I want;
2x clown fish
2x tangs
1x fire shrimp
1x dancing shrimp
4x sexy shrimp
Lots of hermits and turbo snails
Starfish
Maybe a few more dinky colourful fish such as pyjama cardinals.

Ive got a heater, internal filter, light, calcium rich marine gravel, aquarium salt, hydrometer and thermometer.

I want to know if I need a skimmer (not sure how to even use one of these), an external filter, live rock, or anything else. Sorry to sound like such a novice!

iv got a 140L tank what size tank u have?

inside i have

heater
fuval 205extrnal filter
aquaclear 70 skimmer
live rock
live sand
a few corals mushrooms etc

at the moment fish wise i have

3x green chromis
5x hurmit crabs
5x turbo snails

Ive got 180l tank. So I have to have an external filter and skimmer then? I was hoping to avoid them as with the live rock its getting very expensive! I dont want any corals.

The tank is over 30gallons, and so I would reccomend a skimmer.
A Tang will get to large for the tank, let alone two.
Sexy shrimp are small and tank mates have to be carefully chosen.
You don't NEED an external. The internal would allow you to fill it with phosphate remover, the live rock, skimmer, and water changes will do the rest.
It's best to read all the pinned threads to start with. :good:

I was actually relpying to the thread maker.

Don't worry though. What you've got is great and your system should be successful :)
However, I forgot to mention to both of you, that make sure you have atleast 10 to 15 times the volume of the tank being turned over by pumps and powerheads.

Yeah, no dice on the Tangs, tank's too small... Many other options, but I'd avoid them :)
