I just bought I 70 litre Jewel tank. I al ready have a polystyrene background that i will attach to it before adding the water. I have gravel but im thinking of goin with sand for this one as I have gravel in my other 65l tank. My other tank is a community tank with the likes of tetras n guppies n that kind of fish. Wanting to go along a different type of line now, if you know what I mean? The light unit is only 15W too.any suggestions n pointin me in the right direction would be great. got too much money as im a student so lookin to go cheap as possible.
Cheers
Paul

If your'e a student I would keep away from guppys always ill.
Tetra's are good but not neon tetra, harlequns and corys are nice.

My guppies are fine and I have loads of fry so im happy with that. Wanna set up somethin different now, not a community tank.

Im a fan of cory cats myself.

Take a look around at fish stores and see what takes your fancy and is available.

I like cichids but dunno if the tank is big enough now coz its only a 70l, ill edit the top bit now.

I am going to try my hand at pseudomugils in a similar sized tank.

Or you could set it up as a shelldweller tank.

Or fit 3-4 dwarf puffers in there.

Dunno if i was searching right but the shelldwellers, are they just grey fish coz they look pretty boring? And as for the puffers could i only keep fur n nothin else at all? cheers

Grey, well sort of- boring, no! Shellies have tons of personality. Apparently there is a video around somewhere of one of them taking on a crocodile! A small crocodile, admittedly, but even so....

Yeah, if you went for dwarf puffers, you would be doing those and nothing else, they're aggressive little buggers, but again tons of personality.

Hmmm.... if you don't like the thought of shellies, and you don't fancy a species tank, then what would suit you? Peacock gobies are colourful and can go with community fish.

cool cheers for the advice, puffer fish cold be an option ill think about that. Think i will go for a seacies tank coz its somethin different ay? What could I go for? you have already metioned a couple, you know any more? Think cichids would be really nice but im startin to think they are out of my league.
