I've recently got a 2nd 4ft tank with steel framed stand that has 6 feet. 1 at each corner and then 2 in the middle

I'd like to put it upstairs in bedroom A. I've found the way the floorboards run in bedroom B, so I'm guess they run that way throughout the floor.

The floor is laminate in bedroom A and I am a bit worried about the weight/pressure that will on each leg. So I was thinking on placing a piece of wood underneath the stand help spread the weight.

Would this work, or can anyone recommend something else to do?

I was thinking of building a cover of some sorts around the steel frame to hide it, so was thinking of just boxing the whole thing in, adding doors and making a cupboard.

Thanks,
slime

Yes, your idea of placing a sheet of wood (ply would do too) will work very well.

I've known people box in their frame stands, but haven't done it myself. I'm sure it would be quite easy, if you're good at that sort of thing!

Ply is a good idea as flutter said as the piles inside the wood will crush themself kind of lvling out when the tanks full. Dont forget to give the stand a lick a weatherproof before filling up you will be greatfull in a few years :good:

I at one time had a steel framed tank and stand with four legs, and we had wood floors, so I obtained four steel plates about four inches square to put under the legs to spread the weight.
it worked, the tank in question is the one in my photo with the cat
