Hi all

Since I have got my tank I've been reading post on the site so thought it was about time I introduced myself and got an account.

My tank is the aqua nano 40 (55 litre)

I started by adding the water and tap safe and a few live plants.

I then added a few nano shrimp, snails and two balloon molly (1 male 1 female)

Then added 3 cherry barbs (1 male 2 females)

Added a albino Corydora and a bronze Corydora.

Decided to add some colour so got 4 tetras (2 make and 2 female) but one of the females jumped out!

Then finally added the rams.

Got a testing kits and all levels are fine and fish getting on well.

I have added some pictures for you and look forward to learning more.

Nice looking tank it will be cool to see how it develops :)

Nice set up! Love the sand! It looks like a tropical beach!

If only there is a hut or some coconut trees to go along! Fake ones I mean.. haha

Cherry barbs are not suitable for your tank size or tank mates. They'll start ripping the fins off anything fancy so if possible I suggest you get rid of them. As will the Germans blue rams. Large tank needed for these guys with loads of hiding spots. They tend to be quite the bullies as they mature hence large tank.

Same tank as mine, :D Nice set up too, never thought about adding peddles in. :]

What type of fish is the yellow one? xD It's looks funny. 0.0

Also welcome!

Techen; cherry barbs aren't nippy, they're very peaceful.

OP, I'm afraid you do have multiple problems with your stocking.

Rams are very delicate fish and not suitable for new tanks. They need very soft, low in nitrate, warm (around 28°C) water to do well, plus a stable, mature tank. None of your other fish will do well at that temperature. They're also not suitable for small tanks as they can be very territorial. My last ram killed nine neon tetras, because she didn't like them getting near her, and that was in a four foot tank.

The mollies (they're balloon mollies, Amy, that's why they look 'funny', they've been breed to have a congenital deformity of the spine) prefer very hard water, so, depending on what your water is like, either these or the rams are going to be very unhappy. They're going to grow too big for a tank of this size.

I can't see any tetras in your tank, but you do have guppies. Again they need hard water and need it much cooler than the rams (around 22/24°C).

There;s nothing wrong with your tank (it's nice tank, I have one myself), but I'm afraid your stocking is all over the place and many, if not all these fiah are going to be very unhappy, if they survive at all. FWIW in my Aquanano 40, I've got 8 dwarf emerald rasboras and ten blue jelly shrimp; that is understocked but might give you more of an idea of what a stocking for this tank should be like.

I agree 100 percent with this. Rams are pretty delicate fishes. Are you able to take anyone back to the store? The setup is beautiful, and will look wonderful when the plants fill in.

Oh and Welcome to the forum!
