Okay, I'm not sure where this should go so I'll just post it in here.

I have just finished cycling my tank for my new oscar and need some advice. I need to take my cycling fish back to the shop as they wouldn't last long with the oscar. (Neons... ) Anyway, what should I do to prepare the tank for the oscar?

Also, I don't think the usual method of a plastic bag wll work in this case. (The oscar is already about 6 in) Should I use a bucket? If so should I fill it with my own water?

I am also going to add a plec and pictus cats, but will wait for the bioload to accept the oscar first. Is this wise or should I just throw them all in. (Not literally, of course :fun: )

Thanks. I need help here as it's the first time I have got big fish :D

well wut size of tank do u have? and floating the bag should work to aclimitize him just fine

It's about 79 US gallons. Also, do fish shops stock extra large bags that I haven't noticed? I don't think it would fit in a bag.

ok so u got plenty of tank, umm they should have bigger bags for the oscar, wut kind of oscar is it?

It's a nice red oscar. :D Even better is that the guy at the lfs says I can have it for free! :) I think it was brought in by someone and was kept round the back with a large plec. They also had two tigers but he said they were brought in because they were fighting each other and may have wounds. He also said that the red had the best personality out of the three so I went with him. :D

   u lucky one! theres usually alot of free oscars becuase lotsa people dont realize how big they get then they gotta get rid of them

Hey, thought I'd just say I got him.

Here he is :D
