Well I got given a 2.5ft tank and stand from the brother in law and the filter is leaking so I've replaced the rubber seal it's a fluval 204
I've also been told its quite an old model so was wondering if I should buy a new one as it still leaks and to be honest I'd rather just for piece of mind

Hear a pic of the tank

I was just gonna buy te fluval 205 or 206 but can anyone else recommend a external filter thanks

You can buy spare parts online which would be much cheaper than buying a whole new filter if you can find out why its leaking.

It is probably a O-ring seal on the main body.

Here is how to check the filter. Fill your kitchen sink with water. Put the filter on the floor next to it with the hoses in the sink & turn it on. Much easier to spot the leak when it is out in the open like this.

Nice one cheers
I just don't want it leaking again as I work 12-14 hour days and just don't wanna come home to a soakd carpet again

The filters second hand from my brother in law and he said its at least 4 years old
I'm not sure on shelf life of these filters and I fault an upgrade and a new one was a good idea ?
