put the blue fella in his new tank a week thursday, came home sunday to a bubble nest. then on monday moved the tank to different room and noticed heater was faulty so took it out till i got a replacement on tuesday. tuesday evening added fluvel 1 filter with mature media. on wed noticed he didnt look very welll and for some reason amonia had spiked. done big water change and got amonia down but next day he was spending a lot of time on the bottom. didnt know if he would make it. treated tank with melafix. luckily hes back to him self now and all readings are good.

amonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 10

building a bubble nest generly means they are happy
he may not be so happy now he has a filter
many fighters do not like to have filter even if it does have a low current

I'd be light on the melafix - I hear conflicted stories that it may harm the betta. I tend to use half of the recommended dosage.
