im thinking about setting up a tank for 1 male betta or a pair of bettas(1 male 1 female) i have a 5 gallon hex. tank would that be big enough for a pair of bettas?
and also what kind of betta would you prefer i buy?
pics of your bettas and tanks would greatly help me make an idea for my tank

That would be enough for one male. Never keep 1 male and 1 female together.
If you wanted, you could find something like a shoal of ember tetras to put in with him, but be aware that he may attack them. It really depends on the personality of the betta you get :good:

thanks so much for the help and i will be getting a betta soon. is there a certain species i should get. i no different people have different intrests but you opinions are just as important. also what decor and plants should be put in there?

if you want fake plants than silk plants will do fine but i prefer live plants and some driftwood with a mix of small and big stone to give it a natural effect and i prefer halfmoons as they are the most beautiful bettas i have ever seen but this is your tank so you get to choose what you want it might help to go to you local fish store and browse around and see what you like.

There are no different species, only different tail types.
You can get plakats, veil tails, half-moons, deltas, super deltas, spade tails, double tail and crown tails.
Search each of them in google images and then you can find which you like most, and try to find one of them :good:

as posted above, just one male betta or one female betta ALONE because if you put them together, they would most likely fight to the death! :( good luck!

i was thinking either a male king betta or a male halfmoon betta? but probably halfmoon cause of its huge wonderful tail.
