Hi everyone :hyper:

I have had this tank awhile but never really got around to doing much with it, It has sand in bottom and afew plant pots with female bettas but thats about it, Now I'm gonna move female bettas into a 2ft tank later today and empty this one and re-set it up so it should be ready somtime in January.
The tank sizes are:
Length: 36"
Width: 12"
Depth: 18"

It came with Light,Heater,Filter,Air Pump,Beech Wood hood and stand and afew other bits only cost £50.00 so quite happy with that ^.^ my partner got me it for my Birthday.
Now I was told just to be a frozen food cube in and let the amonia and bacteria get going etc I wanna start over so I'm gonna give filter a good clean.
Not really sure what Set-Up I'm gonna go with maybe somthing natural... Not even sure what fish I'm gonna get maybe Cichild or a community tank with guppies and mollies etc

I want the tank to look "full" so ya can actualy see the fish... I guess I will see what fish TONG have when the tanks ready to go..... Fishless cycle fun...... Atleast I can "Feed" the filter.
Now do I just add one frozen cube and let it rot or do I need to keep putting afew flakes in a day too?

Here's the tank as of now but at 10am it's gonna be emptied and cleaned and redone.
Also if I was to do a fish cycle what fish are normaly used for this? and of course how many?

As you can see the tanks kinda left to go to ruin heh..... Just haven't had time for it at all but now I do lol.

Thanks

Not sure why you want to strip the filter down and cycle from scratch again, you have no need to at all.

If the filter is REALLY mucky, even after you have given it a good squoosh out in old tank water, get some new media, cut the old stuff in half and put in half new, half old. Bingo, one filter, cycled, clean and ready to go.

Id not then go and bung in a huge amount of fish in a tank running a filter done like this, although i HAVE its been with existing fish, old substrate and half and half old and new water so its no different to doing a big water change on an existing tank.

If you choose to do this, id bung the old filter into the tank the fish are going in for now, clean out yer tank etc etc and then do all the above and put it back in. So long as you have treated your water it should be fine.

Only other suggestinos are..... background on tank always makes it look better, and plants!! But i love plants.

If you want your tank to look full i would recomend a nice peiceful comunity tank with lots of molly guppies and platties in that way your bound to have at least 40 fry by the end of january.
good luck
