New TANK HUGE MESS

Sounds all too familiar, bbq1234! For the long-term good of your floors, I would suggest running a fan in your room directed at the damp carpet area, especially if you had water running underneath your bed. Carpeting can be really good at holding moisture, need to do something to get that water to evaporate out or otherwise you can get mold, mildew and/or rotten floorboards.

When I first started using a garden hose to fill my tanks, it dawned on me that I could also use the hose to drain the water. Our house was situated on top of a hill, so I just ran the hose out the window, down the hill, and let the water run into the street. I happened to glance outside onetime while I was doing this, just in time to see a passing jogger stop long enough to pick up the hose and take a nice long drink.

Ive done similar things with my siphon, just busy chatting away with the GF and not pay attention to how full the bucket is. But if you think thats a mess, imagine what it looked like when my shot busted the front of my 170g with his BB gun. Now that was a nightmare.

    NICE!!!!!

I've had the outlet pipe pop off my cannister filter when I moved it once. Now that is fun 320gph all over my living room floor. Funny thing was I sat there flapping around like an idiot for about 20 seconds before I realised I was holding the plug and just to pull it out!!!

once I was siphoning, I had my hand on the lower end of the siphon to keep it in the bucket, the phone rang and without thinking i lifted hand+ siphone to pick it up....water everywhere, including in the phone...

Whoopsy daisy!

Why don't you just kinda fold over the hose, this stops the water coming through, you run to wherever the tank is and fill it up, more or less the same with cycling!

These stories are funny though!

I've got a spihon thingy that connects straight to the tap and will empty and fill up without buckets.
A couple of months ago I was filling up the water butt at the side of the tank. There's a pump and heater in there. The pump then fills the tank up at the flick of a switch. I walked off to watch telly. I totally forgot.
I just happened to turn around and see water coming in the front room.
I waided through the hall into the dining room. The water had gone into the kitchen. It has also fried two light tubes, a light starter unit, ran into two extension sockets, blew the pump fried the heater and the heater had melted through the bottom of the water butt emptying that as well :-(

All in all a pretty productive day
