New Sump

in the next few week im going to be going from 2 200lt tanks to 1 700lt tank, problem is the new tank has a brand new sump, if i added the to filters i have running the 2 tanks now to the sump, would the bac copy over, would the filters still work in the sump or do they need the gravity to work?

basically the filters would be in and out where the return pump is for the sump.

most externals need to be bellow the water to form the proper suction needed for them to work. Best bet would be to take all the media out of the canisters and put them in the proper areas in the sump

Depending on the sump's design, I have seen people running HOB filters on the edges of the sump, but it all depends on the design. It would probably be far better to add your mature media directly in the flow coming from the tank.

sump is 2 footer and has 5 compartments, 1 main for return pump and 4 smaller ones for media, there is brand new media already, the last owner never used the sump, theres biomax, bioballs, and 2 sorts of rock stuff and one compartment for foam, my 2 tanks atm are 205's and just have biomax rings and the foam pads, i would rather "copy" the bac than replace with the old media
